DataCAD Product Group Management Forms New Company
Acquires DataCAD® Software from Micro Control Systems Inc.
Windsor, CT 06095 -- October 2, 1996 -- In a development that industry observers believe can only benefit the architectural community and DataCAD users, a newly formed company, DATACAD LLC, bought all the rights to DataCAD from Micro Control Systems Inc. (formerly Cadkey Inc.). According to Mark F. Madura, President/CEO of DATACAD LLC, DataCAD has been sold to the management who previously staffed Micro Control Systems’ DataCAD Product Group. As a result, DataCAD is now independent from Micro Control Systems Inc. DataCAD has been placed in the hands of a team dedicated to developing Windows 95/NT-based CADD applications appropriate to architects, engineers, and contractors, as well as to continuing support for the 130,000+ registered users of DataCAD.
When asked about the creation of DATACAD LLC, Madura said, "We have created a new company in order to focus on our customers’ needs. There will be no interruption in continued development or support. We are committed to providing the most affordable, professional-level architectural software in the industry."
DATACAD LLC’s management team includes Mark F. Madura (President/CEO), David A. Giesselman (Senior Vice President/CTO), and Clay W. Rogers (Product Manager). Madura is the former Vice President of the DataCAD Product Group and founder of Madura Studios Inc. in Boston. Madura was hired by Micro Control Systems in June 1995. Since that time, he has overseen the development and introduction of DataCAD 7.04 and the Internet-based Pre-release Program for DC Viewer™ for Windows 95/NT. More importantly, Madura has focused the DataCAD team on the development of Windows 95/NT-based CADD applications for AEC professionals. The first in this new product family is DC Viewer, a view manipulation and image processing tool. DC Viewer is DATACAD’s first 32-bit CODe™-based product. It is the strategic first step toward a full-featured Windows-based architectural CADD program (DC Architect™).
David Giesselman is the former Vice President of Product Development of the DataCAD Product Group. Prior to joining Micro Control Systems in 1989, Giesselman was Senior Software Engineer with Microtecture Corporation since 1984. Giesselman, one of the original authors of DataCAD, is now spearheading the development of new CODe-based, architectural CADD applications. Clay Rogers is the former AEC Product Manager of the DataCAD Product Group. Prior to joining Micro Control Systems in 1989, Rogers was associated with Microtecture since 1988.
The newly formed company, DATACAD LLC, is focused on affordable, professional-level, Windows 95/NT-based CADD solutions for architects, engineers and contractors. DataCAD is one of the world’s most widely used AEC applications and is the only CADD product which has ever been endorsed by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for direct distribution to its members. Developed by architects for architects, DataCAD 7 is one of the most efficient 2D/3D CADD packages on the market. For more information, call (800) 394-2231 or reach DATACAD LLC at www.datacad.com |
